Cat Alert, Cat Alert!!!

We found two: Scooby and Tiggy, 2 female semi-long hairs, aged 3 and 6. Jo and I arrived at the RSPCA a little early on Saturday to find the car park more or less empty, so we went for a quick drink at a local pub. Got back 20 minutes later to find the place heaving with families. It was like Harrods, the first day of the January sales. Thankfully most of the people were after dogs. All we had to contend with were another young couple (after a single cat) and an elderly woman. Suffice to say we barged past them quite successfully.

We'd already been briefed on which cats might suit us, so we went straight to them. When they weren't visible in their cage we asked to go in and stroke them. The black and white cat was friendly enough, but the ginger one was too shy (a trait shared by all gingers!). Incidentally, I'm referring to them by colour, as I'm not sure which is which. Plus we intend to rename them eventually anyway so it's a moot point.

So today I am expecting a call from the local RSPCA home visitor, to arrange to come and see us. The only big proviso currently on the horizon is the fact that we live on a semi-main road. I'm hoping that the visit co-incides with a quiet period, otherwise we may be rejected :o(

As for the rest of the weekend, I spent the rest of Saturday landscaping the rear garden. I got rid of the horrible shed foundations, re-jigged the borders and turfed over the remaining bare land using a few free snippets from Chris at work. They fit in like a perfect jigsw puzzle, bar a small patch here or there. Jo and I (at the neighbour's suggestion) dumped all the old bricks and rocks in the wasteland opposite the house. I was assured no one would care, everyone does it. As it happens, no sonner do we start dumping than a bloke claiming to work for the council draws up in a 4x4, shouts some threats/warning at us, and drives off! Still, he doesn't know where we live, so what can he do? (Unless he's reading this!!! Eeek! Run!!!).

We also had a chap round to measure up for a cat flap. We need to get a whole new double glazed unit, with the cat flap hole specially made. 's going to be around £200 to make and fit. These cat's are turning out to be quite expensive!

And finally, I went to see the Hulk. Not bad I thought. Very impressive.
