Got some good news this morning. The Nationwide look to be progressing on the mortgage. It's not a definite 'yes' until the survey is done and the references are ok, but it's the best news we could have hoped for!

This made me laugh. Quite relevant to the theme of the site too I thought.

Thanks to dog-bomb of b3ta for letting me use it. You can click the pic to take you to flea-toon, where there are countless others. (Well, 75 so far).

Not much of an update for today, other than to say my latest effort was frontpaged on b3ta (if your browser shrinks it, make sure you resize).

Okay, no sooner do I finish typing that than my new bike arrives! Ordered in on Ebay last week. I've just cycled around the car park a few times, although I couldn't stop as the handlbars were taped up!. It's now sleeping in the back of the car, no doubt dreaming of it's first outing on Friday.

Hmm, according to the Nationwide's web site, Jo and I are eligible to borrow £178,000 even with our debts taken into account. That's made me more positive about us borrowing the much smaller amount (still lots though!) we actually need. Still no news though, but as I'm told, it's easier and quicker to say no. Yes takes a little longer. This week would be nice though, so we can put our flat notice in asap.

Saturday's festivities now include a steam fair at the local park. Then even have fireworks apparently. We therefore have the option of staying on for them, or retiring to the flat and watching the higher ones from the balcony. Should be fun. It'll be the first proper evening of Summer if the weather forecasts are accurate. 26 degrees this Thursday apparently. It's quite sunny outside now, although I'm not sure how warm it is. Will go investigate at lunchtime when I go swimming.

Forgot to add this last week, but it's another animation with the Iraqi information minister: click me to open a new window.

A quick hello to Mum!

Afternoon. Still no word on the 2nd mortgage. Hopefully we get some sort of nod from the financial advisor this week. Then we can start getting a little more excited. Last week was depressing when we got the letter declining the mortgage from Bristol and West, so we're determined not to expect too much just yet.

I'm also in something of a quandry. The whole point of this blog was originally to 1) Keep the world up to date as to what's happening, and 2) Vent my private opinions. I can't do that 2nd one however for fear that someone I'm venting about reads this. By that I mean I may want to have a good moan about something or someone, but I'm not brave enough to say it in person. Ah well. I'll just be polite and moan to Jo.

What else is happening? I'm keeping busy with the IEE. Seems my workload gets bigger every month. The main branch wants me to take on their treasurer role, but I can't until I get someone to replace me as newsletter editor/event co-ordinator. Aaargh.

On the positive front, my new bike should arrive Thursday in time for the bank holiday. Jo and I are looking forward to going for a ride in the country park. I prefer that venue (until she gets used to having no stabilisers) ;)

Plus we're off to some sort of book show in Swindon on Saturday. Should be interesting (I have no idea what to expect). Hopefully I can pick up some cheap reads.
